Tambako The Jaguar via Compfight
Tigers, or Panthera tigris tigris are almost extinct. The largest cat of the cat family, the tiger is a majestic creature. Tigers from head to tail can be seven to nine feet. In other words, tigers can be up to three point three
meters! Unlike other large cats, tigers love the water. As all big cats are, they are mammals. There are eight different kinds of tigers, but unfortunately three species went extinct in the 1900s. Mostly, tigers keep to themselves and don’t bother humans.
Although tigers mostly leave us alone, we, as humans, have not left them in peace. People hunt them so they can display them as trophies, or use them in traditional Chinese medicines. Their reddish orange coats with stripes are a trademark. So even though a usual life length for a healthy tiger is eight to ten years, most lives are cut short. Currently, there are more tigers in captivity than in the wild. Tigers have a fearful reputation, and can their roar can be heard from two miles away, but even the most mighty of animals fall to the hands of humans.
Tigresses give birth in litters of two to six. When cubs are born, they are raised by the mother, with no help from the father. The cubs stay with the mother until they are two or three, then find their own territories. In conclusion, tigers are pretty awesome animals and we should protect them.
